New England Equal Best Victory Run Since Brady Years with Triumph Over New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five TDs in the present year
The New England Patriots equaled their best victory streak since the Tom Brady period as they beat AFC East opponents the Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Tom Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019
Quarterback Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The win bolsters the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The Jets had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard TD to cap the Jets' initial series
But the Patriots responded in the second period as the rookie scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of the rookie. "He aims to be excellent."
Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales booted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the triumph
